Pennies in Action goes global...

Thanks to the hope bus tour for coming to IceWorks in Aston Pa (www.thehopebus.org)
We had a family FUNd day , lots of kids came out . We had a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch Pennies in Action going global.
Tanith Belbin/Ben Agosto (USA), Oksana Domnina (Russia), Helena Nyman from the Hope Bus Tour ,and Jim McGinn from Aston Township helped me cut the ribbon.
Then Helena lit a torch and 12 other torches were lit from that one to signify the unity and outreach to each other to help others
The torches were lit by representatives from USA,Canada, Russia, Latvia, Germany and Switzerland to signify our global outreach.
My grandson Corey held a torch for all the young children that we hope will never have to deal with the horrors of cancer.
The Mchugh Irish dancing school, and Top gun Black Belt Academy gave great performances.
Kids loved the Flyers games and the moon bounce,the engine"63" from the Greenridge fire company and all the games that the committee had for them.
Pinnoccio’s donated the food and Coke the drinks.
Fun was had by all.
All this would have never happened if Kelsey Little ,one of our skaters would not have put a group on face book about pennies in Action. That is how the hope bus tour found out about us.

Great victory for www.penniesinaction.org

Through getting the message out about Dr.Czerniecki's breast cancer vaccine trials, a new patient from many miles away found her way to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and was found to be eligible and is now enrolled in the trial.
Thanks to all my friends on facebook and twitter who were and are helping to get the message out.
Please send everybody you know to the site www.penniesinaction.org.
Everyone who had or might get breast cancer needs to know about these new developments. It will save many lives...

Great international relations while having fun...

Thursday we had an international festival at ICEWORKS for our skaters from many different nations.
It was fun for everyone. Everyone brought some food of their native country. We had an American barbeque to go with it
We had a waterslide and dunk tank. It was great to see when the kids dunked the coaches. China went in first then Japan, Switzerland and to top it off the little Korean girls dunked their coach from Korea. The smiles on their faces afterwards were priceless…I must say I chickened out, oh well…(so did some other countries, but Asia came on strong or soaked lol…)
Thanks to the president of the ICEWORKS skating club, Lisa Shaw, and Skating Director Joey Suchodolsky fun was had by all.

Why do we tear down others so easily?...

We are so great in supporting the underdog. As soon as the underdog gets ahead, we switch and are busily looking for reasons to tear them down again.
My motto has always been: “Do not rain on anybodies parade.”
Soon after their success (that we readily celebrated) we are starting to look for reasons how to cut them back down to size.
Apparently , no one is spared.
Why do you think that is?

On Spirituality...

It is amazing to me how many children are being brought up without the believe in a supreme being.
It does not matter what your religion is , but the common ground is the believe that there is a force greater than ourselves.
When I was brought up I knew that there was the almighty god that saw and knew everything, that you could not hide from this supreme being, that you were accountable to. It definitely kept me and my friends from getting into all kinds of trouble.
Today too many children are trying to get good at not getting caught. The emphasis is not any more on being good and accountable but on being smart enough not to get caught.
Children are very impressionable and need to have the fear of god in them to learn the difference between good and bad in a black and white way…
I feel very bad for all the children that do not get this start in life. The schools used to take over where the home life did not. But sadly this has now been eliminated in our public schools!!!
In our formative years we are not capable of dealing in grey. So lets give our children a chance to get a good start…

Positive self talk. Become your own best friend...

All my life I worked on becoming the person who I want as my best friend.(It is still a work in progress…)
The most important part of this is the self talk that we engage in.
This is so important in everything we do. In my teaching skating I see that all the time.
There is a difference between being hard on yourself or annilating yourself . Sometimes I would love to give them a baseball bat , so they can get the self destruction over with faster…
There is such fun and joy in learning and the progress is so exhilarating if we give ourselves encouragement and a pat on the back along the way. We always look for that in others to do for us, but we do not realize the power we have within ourselves.
Be aware of the self talk you have. Ultimately you measure up to how you see yourself. Make sure the journey is enjoyable for you and everyone around you…
Try it, you might really like it.
IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, YOU CAN BECOME IT!!!
