Dear Generous Donor,

I am writing to you on behalf of Pennies In Action Breast Cancer Foundation. I will be representing this non-profit organization in three months, as I take on my first marathon in the city of “Brotherly Love”- Philadelphia! The Philadelphia Marathon is not only a way to fund monies for a new research, but will also allow myself to represent a dear friend just recently diagnosed and to fight for the many other women--sisters, mothers, grandmothers, that need everyone’s tenacity and positive hope that “mind over matter” can prevail. As my friend Melissa says, “It doesn’t have to be breast cancer, it can be BLESSED cancer.” Let’s fight!

Pennies In Action has recently started raising thousands of dollars in the last three years, since being founded by Uschi Keszler - Olympic athlete, Olympic coach, and double cancer survivor. Having survived and seen the conquering of tuberculosis in her youth, and now as a survivor of both breast and uterine cancer, Uschi is determined to see cancer beaten in her lifetime too.

Pennies In Action is raising funds to benefit the breast cancer vaccine research of Dr. Brian Czerniecki of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Czerniecki is a highly recognized and respected oncological surgeon and researcher, who specializes in the least invasive means to treat breast cancer. He has had positive results in the first trial of his vaccine, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I have a specific “pink” running attire that I will be wearing on race day, in which will have written all of the names that are dear to your heart and mine.
